NEAR Foundation Announces Second Phase of Sharding

According to Foresight News, the NEAR Foundation announced today that the protocol working group will initiate the second phase of sharding testing this week, with the second phase expected to launch on the NEAR mainnet in May. NEAR states that the second phase of sharding introduces the most significant changes to the NEAR protocol since the mainnet launch in 2020, with the biggest change being the implementation of stateless validation. Other network improvements include in-memory trials.

NEAR users will not experience downtime during the transition to the second phase, and validator nodes do not need to take any special measures.
